How long it takes

The honest timeline for learning this, and why almost everything you find online says otherwise.

Most people begin with the wrong timeline in their head.

They quit not because the material was too hard, but because it took longer than the number they arrived with. So here is the real number, before anything else.

Not a day, not a month

Getting rich in a day is off the table. So is a week, a month, two months and three months.

None of those are pessimism. They are simply not how long a skill takes.

Nothing here pays off in weeks.

One to two years

The honest window is roughly one to two years of steady work before this is something you can rely on.

Read next to any other skill worth having, one to two years is fast. A trade, a degree or an instrument all cost more than that.

Plan in years, not months.

What a beginner search returns

Search for beginner trading videos and the results fill up with claims.

A hundred percent win rate, meaning every single trade wins. A guaranteed three to one, meaning three dollars made for every one risked, every time.

Treat every guaranteed number as false.

Why those claims cost you a year

The claims contradict each other, and they contradict what happens on your own chart.

A beginner who believes them spends the first year confused: swapping between methods, unable to tell which of them was ever true. The confusion is the real cost, not the time.

Nothing in a market is guaranteed, so a guarantee tells you the source is unreliable.

Key terms

win rate (WR)

the share of your trades that end in profit.

reward ratio (RR)

what a trade makes measured against what it risked.
